CAWG Cadet Competition - Vandenberg AFB
Part of the Civil Air Patrol National Cadet Competition

The 2012 Color Guard/ Drill Team Competition will be held at Vandenberg AFB 13-16 Jan 2012 (Martin Luther King Holiday weekend).

Groups will need to plan accordingly, as this is six weeks earlier than usual.

● Improve skills in leadership, management, communication
● Examine ethical decision making for the Cadet Officer
● Participate in classroom academics, simulations, exercises, and interact with Cadet Officers from California and the Pacific Region.

 

Pre-requisites for potential students:
(requirements may be waived at COBC Commander’s discretion)

● Mitchell Award recipient       ● 15 years of age or older

● Minimum scholastic “C” average (2.0 on 4.0 scale)

● NCOS Graduate (California Wing Cadets only)

 

Application Details
Deadline:  Postmarked by 26 November 2011   
Cost: $150 (Billeting only. Members will purchase meals on own; estimated cost, additional $100)
Students: Mail the following together:
- CAWG F150 completed and signed
- Cover letter outlining the reasons you’d like to attend COBC
- Resume with school, community and CAP achievements
- Check or money ordShow_Flyerer for $150 made out to “CIVIL AIR PATROL” or copy of PayPal receipt

Cadet Commanders’ Course

Cadet Commanders’ Course (CCC) - Vandenberg AFBCCC_Logo
A Califorrnia Wing Course

The Cadet Advisory Council, along with other senior and cadet officers in California Wing have developed a new program designed to teach you how to be a more organized, prepared, and effective Cadet Commander. Get a thorough understanding of how to manage a staff, set goals, create and execute a schedule, and receive great resources that you can use as a Cadet Commander. Make your squadron a more organized, dynamic, and interesting place to be.

Students:
Applications are now being accepted. Submit a typed resume, cover letter and CAWGF150. The cover letter must answer the questions: how will you benefit from attending this school and how will this school benefit from you attending? In addition, you must submit a letter of recommendation from either a cadet officer or a senior member, preferably not from your home unit. These must be sent via email to rachelkhattar@yahoo.com and cc’ed to squigley90@gmail.com. Mail a hard copy with signed CAWGF150, check for $20.00 made payable to “CIVIL AIR PATROL” (or PayPal receipt) to: 1634 Avon Place, Glendora, CA 91740. Phase two and three cadets are preferred.

Cadet Staff:

Please send an email to squigley90@gmail.com stating in what capacity you would like to participate, what experience you have that is pertinent to the Cadet Commander’s Course, and if you can attend for the entire weekend.CAWGF150 will be required after acceptance.

Application deadline is 22 Oct for all participants.

From “A” engines to “M” clusters, from missiles to flying basketballs, it’s RocStock! A free and fun weekend where you can shoot your own model rockets or watch the “big guys and gals” shoot rockets that can exceed 10,000 feet in altitude! Night launches and rocket drag races, too!

Everyone is invited — it’s a great family event. CAP membership is not required and it’s FREE for spectators. Don’t miss it!
