Night SAREX

Squadron 40, who shares our hangar at the Fullerton Airport, has invited us to participate in their Night Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) the last weekend of January.  We will be providing a Ground Team of five to eight members to help their pilots locate people on the ground and be trained as Ground Team Members.  This is a great opportunity for our squadron to develop a core group of members to build our Emergency Services capacity around.

Currently, we are looking at two or three Senior Members and three to five cadets attending this activity.  So far, a couple of cadets have expressed interest in attending and participating more fully in Emergency Services.  Those members interested in participating should let Capt Henninger know as soon as possible.  To participate, members will need to complete Level 1 (for seniors) or Achievement 1 (for cadets).  Additionally, members will need to complete the Operational Security Briefing, General Emergency Services test, Emergency Services Continuing Education Part 1, and two FEMA course, IS 100a and IS 700a.  While this sounds like a lot of work, each part can be done separately and shouldn’t take more than a few hours to complete it all.
